Happy December! We’re getting into the holiday spirit, and what better way to celebrate than with a GIANT candy cane?! We were inspired by our giant candy cane from a few years back to create a rainbow version (because, duh!). It’s the perfect prop for a photo booth or festive soiree. Read on to see how we did it!
Materials: Butcher paper, packing tape, flour, water, mixing container, hot glue gun, x-acto knife, metallic mylar paper, tissue paper
Step 1: Make a roll the size of 7’ by 6” by twisting and scrunching your butcher paper.
Step 2: Bend the roll into the shape of a candy cane. Then, wrap the entire candy cane with bubble wrap, secure the ends with tape.
Step 3: Paper mache the candy cane (we use a 1:1 mixture of flour and water).
Step 4: Time for the color! Cut 2” strips of tissue paper and mylar. Fringe the strands with scissors or an x-acto knife. Glue the fringe to the base and make sure you switch between all the colors to get the rainbow effect.
